About us

LINCATS-Connect provides a web-based software interface for researchers to post and applicants to find research projects at set times throughout the year using a clear and equitable platform.

The overall mission of LINCATS is to accelerate the public health impact of research, especially for underserved communities across Long Island, by offering access to innovative and transformative research programs and educational services. Our research teams are engaged in work ranging from basic research and clinical trials to address vulnerable populations and disparities and incorporate innovative research and practices such as bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, telehealth, genotyping, proteomics, and engineering-driven medicine.

LINCATS-Connect is based on the software developed by Dr. Sheila Patek and her team at Duke University to help match research teams with job seekers. LINCATS-Connect will provide the region with regularly-scheduled, clearly articulated, and equitable access to research opportunities across all fields. Research mentors are members of the Stony Brook University research community who can provide meaningful research experiences and jobs. Mentors are graduate students, postdocs, lab technicians, research team leaders, principal investigators, and professors.
